Abstract

|
Using 124 Korean infant cadavers (male 56. female 68) and 40 adult ones, the author has observed the calibers of the arteries of` the upper extremity and obtained the results as follows:
1) There was little difference in the caliber of the vessels between the male and female in infants.
2) The calibers of the subclavian, axillary, brachial and ulnar arteries were larger in the male than in the female.
3) There was no difference between the right and left in infants.
4) The calibers of the subclavian, axillary and brachial arteries in adults were larger in the right than left one and more marked in the male than in the female.
5) The arteries larger than the radial artery revealed the tendency to increase their calibers during infants. The calibers of the thoracoacromial, subscapular and radial, recurrent arteries increased more or less.
6) In the whole, the calibers of the arteries of the upper extremity were larger by approximately one and half or twice in the adult than in the infant.
